Homes with Amazing Windows

Glass Igloo, Kakslauttanen, Finland
Windows, not blocks of ice, were used to build these igloo dwellings. From inside, residents can view the Northern Lights and star-filled skies. Thermal glass keeps the interior at a comfortable level and prevents the glass from getting frosted so the view remains crystal clear.

Cantilevered Views, Los Angeles, California
Perched on a hill and soaring 12 feet above the ground, this structure features gorgeous mahogany windows through which the canyon, downtown L.A., and the Getty Museum can be viewed. Designed by Rockefeller Partners Architects, the cedar structure is held up by five slightly canted steel columns.

Cinematic Views, Hollywood, California
Perched on a ridgeline in the Hollywood Hills, this environmentally-sensitive home is a celebration of windows and glass. The sensational dwelling also boasts its own open-air theater and a 65-foot infinity pool. The house was designed by Belzberg Architects.

Wings Of Glass, Los Angeles, California
This 10,000 square foot home is divided into two glass-filled wings—something that maximizes views across the lawn and provides views of the nearby canyon. Vertical windows allow for both sunlight and architectural drama, and walls of glass on every floor make the property’s small grove of eucalyptus and pine trees feel as if it’s inside.
